Non-alcoholic drink

An alcohol-free or non-alcoholic drink, also known as a temperance drink, is a version of an alcoholic drink made without alcohol, or with the alcohol removed or reduced to almost zero. These may take the form of a non-alcoholic mixed drink, non-alcoholic beer, and "mocktails", and are widely available where alcoholic drinks are sold.


Ade (drink suffix)

-ade is a suffix used for a carbonated drink. Also fruit– flavored beverage. These drinks may be carbonated or non-carbonated. Widespread examples include lemonade, cherryade, limeade, and orangeade. The suffix has also been used in brand names, including Kool-Aid and Flavor Aid. It is also a popular naming convention with sports drinks, starting with Lucozade, first manufactured in 1927 under the name Glucozade. Other examples include Powerade, Accelerade, Staminade, Sporade, and Gatorade.



Aguapanela, agua de panela or aguepanela is a drink commonly found throughout South America and a few parts of Central America and Caribbean. Its literal translation means "panela water" as it is an infusion made from panela which is derived from hardened sugar cane juice. Though recipe variations exist throughout South America, it is most popular in Colombia, Venezuela and parts of Brazil where it is consumed as a tea as an alternative to coffee. Ecuador, Chile and Peru also offer slight variations. In Colombia, it is commonly drunk with a hint of lemon, much the way tea is consumed.


Aguas frescas

Aguas frescas are light non-alcoholic beverages made from one or more fruits, cereals, flowers, or seeds blended with sugar and water. They are popular in Mexico, Central America and the United States. Some of the more common flavors include tamarind, hibiscus, and horchata. Aguas frescas are sold by street vendors, but can also be found in bodegas convenience stores, restaurants and juice bars.



The original Almdudler is a sweetened carbonated beverage made of herbal extracts. Almdudler has been called the "national drink of Austria". Its popularity in Austria is second only to Coca-Cola. About 80 million litres of the beverage are produced per year. Almdudler is currently sold in original, light sugar-free, "still" uncarbonated, and gspritzt mixed with carbonated mineral water versions. In Austria, a Radler variety mixed with beer, is available as Almradler. In the wine-growing regions of Lower Austria and Burgenland, it is a popular mixer with locally produced red and white wines.


Almond milk

Almond milk is a plant milk manufactured from almonds with a creamy texture and nutty flavor, although some types or brands are flavored in imitation of dairy milk. It does not contain cholesterol, saturated fat or lactose, and is often consumed by those who are lactose-intolerant and others, such as vegans who avoid dairy products. Commercial almond milk comes in sweetened, unsweetened, vanilla and chocolate flavors, and is usually fortified with micronutrients. It can also be made at home using a blender, almonds and water. Global almond milk sales in 2018 were US$5.8 billion, growing at 14% per year, and forecast to be a $13 billion global market by 2025.
